All your structural data in the accurate 3D model

With Tekla Structures, you can create accurate, information-rich 3D models that have all the structural data you need to build and maintain any type of structure. Tekla models can deliver LOD 500-the highest level of development possible-making them truly constructible. High LOD, as-built models minimize costly surprises, RFI's (requests for information) and result for more profitable projects.

You can also import, export, and link your data with other software solutions, digital construction tools, and fabrication machinery for smoother workflows. What's more, the as-built models cut back on costly surprises and requests for information (RFIs), making your projects more profitable. Modeling

Easy modeling of complex platework with lofted plates

 

It’s now easier to create lofted plates between construction objects including lines, arcs, and polycurves. The lofted plate tool can be used to easily create complex geometry with straight, single curved and double curved shapes.

You can also create unfolded single part drawings of single primitive lofted plates and tangentially continuous poly curves lofted plates. This enables modeling and unfolding of twisted plates, transitional duct work profiles, and other curved plates including bridge related plate work, vastly improving your ability to model complex projects.

Point cloud

Enhanced point cloud visualization including clash checking


Visualize your survey data with intelligent point clouds in Tekla Structures in 3D.
Tekla Structures continues to enhance its point cloud functionalities. Tekla Structures allows manufacturers, erectors or contractors to check existing or planned constructions with scanned point clouds of an existing environment. Your possibilities are expanded in this version with new features and improvements, including options for customizing point size and density, and depth perception of point clouds and clash detection heatmaps.

Drawing layout

Complete visual drawing layout editor

Out with the old, in with the new! The process for editing drawing layouts has been completely revamped making it possible for any project team member to achieve office standard drawings, quickly. Add tables, schedules, define multiple drawing sizes, control margin and frame settings and associate layouts to specific drawing types, all with a new what-you-see-is-what-you-get user experience.


Drawing views

Easy visualization and editing of drawing views

Finish your drawings faster and be confident that you are documenting exactly what you need. The new Tekla Structures version now shows General Arrangement drawing views in the 3D model space. You can easily see which objects are included in a drawing view, and our direct modification feature allows you to adjust the view limits. This new feature is especially beneficial in managing large and complex assemblies which may span multiple drawings.

Collaboration

Easy cloud-based collaboration for all project participants

Communicate clearly with project participants with cloud-based collaboration in Trimble Connect. You can directly publish IFC models, drawings, schedules and other project critical information from Tekla Structures to particular stakeholders as a submission or for review, as well as manage access rights.

Use Trimble Connect to collect the files relevant to a project in one place, create a backup of important works-in-progress and collaborate with others without emailing large files.

Depending on what you need to do, you can access the files from your laptop, desktop, iPhone and iPad. Easy.

Trimble Connect Business license is now included in Tekla Structures subscription and 2020 maintenance.

New functionalities and usability improvements now better support workflows and make it easier to get started with Trimble Connect. The all new ribbon tab with Trimble Connect specific features such as ToDos, project users and more provides seamless integration and an easy start. You can connect to a project with just a few clicks from Tekla Structures and enable access to shared reference models.

Overlay models are now available in Tekla Structures from the Connect project as a faster way to reference potentially hundreds of DGN, DWG, and IFC models.
 

Hollowcore detailing

Easier detailing of hollowcore elements

Tekla Structures 2020 makes hollowcore detailing more productive and flexible and less prone to errors.

  • The improved Floor layout tool, purpose-built for creating and modifying precast hollowcore, half-slabs, double-tee, and solid slab floors, makes detailing of more complex hollowcore element structures faster and less error prone. Improvements include automatic hole reservations, defining maximum slab length, optimizing slab width and a new way of defining any properties for individual slabs.
  • Enhancements in Hollowcore lifting loops component enable lifting insert creation to opposite corners of hollowcores.
  • A new “Use DWG for modeling” tool transforms 2D design to 3D model. Use design intent of floor bay polygons to create Floor Layout components. The same tool enables you to transform dwg blocks into 3D embeds. With this functionality you can convert hundreds of electric reservations in flooring to actual embeds with one click.

Formwork

Formwork tools readily at hand


Tekla Structures 2020 streamlines the use of formwork tools. As an integral part of Tekla Structures, the tools are now ready to use out of the box.

The version is delivered with the latest improvements and comes with example formwork systems, so you can get a flying start using the formwork tools. To use supplier specific panels, you can access a wide selection of product families from multiple suppliers in Tekla Warehouse.

Modeling sloping

Modeling sloping slabs is now easier than ever

Now it’s even easier to model complex geometries such as slabs with varying elevations. Improved user interface, ability to add vertices to slab faces, visual display of vertex positioning and elevation are just some of the improvements added to this popular Tekla Structures 2019i feature.

Rebar detailing

Better usability and productivity in rebar detailing

Tekla Structures 2020 continues to improve usability and productivity. Working heavily on smaller features to automatically enhance the work done by the modeller without extra effort, it provides more control than ever on the rebar sets giving ultimate flexibility without hindering the fast and effective geometry-based detailing. The update of several existing features, including the consolidation of rebar dimensioning to create a single function and rebar catalog renewal, go towards sealing Tekla Structures as the best rebar detailing tool on the market. Here are a few features available in Tekla Structures 2020:

Reporting Rebar Layers

Tekla Structures rebar sets now automatically understand where they are placed relative to other bars in layer. This is an improvement on the auto layering functions previously released. You can now prefix and report bar layer automatically in both the model and drawings, allowing you to quickly create filter based drawings better suited to your workflow.

Bridge designers

Improved tools for bridge designers

Easy-to-use drawing creation and editing tools help you complete documentation tasks faster. Simplified rebar creation tools with support for complex and non-standard geometrical forms.

Improvements in the Bridge Creator extension

Improved workflow handling of alignment data from highway team guiding simplified bridge profile handling for faster creation of intelligent bridge objects.
 

Model Sharing

Tekla Model Sharing - Trimble Connect use as the project folder


With the new option to use Trimble Connect Folder as the project or firm folder, the team can ensure controlled and centralized changes to Project and Firm folders defined using XS_PROJECT or XS_FIRM settings. With the one-way synchronization, you can rely on always up-to-date and correct settings and avoid making unintentional changes to folders with model sharing functionality.
